Fourth week + Birthday

Week #4

So everything is going really well, my spanish is okay and my orphanage work is great.

I think the kids are really starting to open up - they now know my name and they (kind of) listen when I tell them to stop fighting! Haha. They are all under 5 so sometimes it can be quite challenging. It's amazing to see them happy though, and the smiles on their faces just light up my whole day.

PS - they love my camera/phone and always ask "foto? foto? mi? foto?"

It is also my 20th birthday this week! I am friends with the two ladies that cook at the orphanage, and they remembered the day. One of them told me that she actually went down to the service station to try and get me a cake but they didn't have any. She even showed me the Quetzales in her hand and said "Look, I even had the money!" It was the sweetest thing ever. The generosity and positive outlook these people have is amazing. I felt so happy and just so special, it was unbelievable.

My amazingly awesome friend Beth bought me a piñata to spanish class. My teacher, Margarita, also brought some little cupcakes to celebrate - it was so lovely :)

We then went around to all the other classes and shared the lollies with everyone :-)

What a great week!!
