My week of travel - El Salvador

El Salvador

So on Tuesday I left for the black beaches of El Salvador. I was pretty much just winging it because the travel agent just set all my stuff up for me and I had really no idea where I was going or where I was staying at!

It turned out to be 3 blissful days of relaxation... however, a little lonely because I didn't meet any people!

So I was walking along the beach when I saw all these coconuts! And, being me, I decided to try and crack one open. I tried smashing it against rocks, with another rock, jumping on it etc etc. This guy was walking past me on the beach and he came over and said something like, "Here let me help with that" - well that's what I hoped it was, because it was in Spanish. I really hoped it was not "Here, let me kill you with this machete" that he was waving one madly around! Turns out he put the coconut down and smashed it with his machete multiple times until it was a big pile of mushed and broken outside shell. And I was like "uhhhh thank you!" and promptly got out of there. But still, I think he was trying to be nice...and I got the coconut open at least.

I also managed to score 2 hours of surfing lessons, below is a casual selfie after being completely pummeled by waves. Haha it was so hard, you have to do a full-on push up and go almost instantly from lying down flat to standing with your knees bent. Needless to say I completely failed, but at least the instructor was cute! Haha. So much muscle pain over the next few days!
