Week #3 Antigua
So by now I have settled into the routine, I get up at about 6.45 and have breakfast at 7 with my host family. Sarah and I then catch a chicken bus (which goes to Guatemala City) but we get off after about 30 minutes at a place called San Lucas. From San Lucas we catch another bus which heads to Chimal.
You don't have to worry about whether you are catching the right bus because the bus "helpers" (they take the money and help the driver) yell out the destination really loud everytime they stop. So I would hear: "Chimal! Chimal! Chimalchimalchimal!" and I know I am going the right way. I only catch this bus for about 5 minutes though, and it drops me off right in front of the orphanage. There is so much to say about the orphanage, I will do it in a separate post!
So basically after spending the morning at the orphanage (about 8am to 12pm) I caught the chicken buses back to my house where I would eat lunch with my host family. Then we would head off to Spanish class from 2-4pm and then party at night! Haha, well some nights we would party :P
Rainbow Cafe
There is a really chill cafe open late at night, it's really hippy-themed and has a bookstore out the front. On Wednesday nights they have open mic nights and I have performed every week!
I sung and accompanied myself on keyboard (set to piano sound):
Skinny Love by Birdy.
Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams.
House of the Rising Sun by the Animals.
I also played Take a Bow by Rihanna, Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You by Adele for my friend Caroline who sung!
